The RotoTank Pit Toilet with Chemical Pedestal is a permanent off-grid sanitation system designed for rural homes, schools, community facilities, farms, construction camps and remote sites where conventional sewerage, running water or electricity may not be available.
The system combines a below-ground RotoTank manufactured in South Africa with an above-ground UV-stabilised HDPE chemical toilet pedestal, creating a dry sanitation solution intended for long-term installation.
No water supply or electrical connection is required for normal operation.
Below-Ground RotoTank System
At the centre of the system is a below-ground RotoTank manufactured from chemical-resistant, roto-moulded HDPE.
The tank receives waste directly from the toilet pedestal through a top-entry inlet and provides high-volume storage for long-term sanitation applications.
The tank operates as a sealed holding system and therefore requires professional pump-out servicing when it reaches its service capacity.
Chemical Treatment Pedestal
The above-ground toilet uses a chemical treatment pedestal manufactured from UV-stabilised HDPE.
It incorporates an ergonomic toilet seat and lid together with a built-in chemical dosing port, allowing appropriate sanitation chemicals to be introduced into the system as required.
The pedestal connects directly to the below-ground tank through an inlet pipe.
Fully Off-Grid Operation
The RotoTank Pit Toilet System is designed for locations without conventional municipal sanitation infrastructure.
It requires:
No running water
No electrical supply
No connection to a municipal sewer system
This makes it particularly suitable for rural, agricultural and remote-site sanitation installations.
Permanent Installation
Unlike a portable chemical toilet, this system requires below-ground installation.
A suitable pit must be excavated before the tank is positioned. The RotoTank must be installed level below ground, with the chemical pedestal surface-mounted above the tank inlet.
Excavation can be completed by the customer or an appropriate installer according to site requirements.
Pump-Out Servicing
Because the RotoTank functions as a sealed waste-holding system, accumulated waste must be removed using an appropriate professional pump-out service.
The tank incorporates a top-access servicing lid to facilitate maintenance and emptying.
Service frequency depends on the tank capacity, number of users and frequency of use.
Chemical Treatment
Regular dosing with suitable sanitation chemicals is recommended to support waste treatment and odour management.
Chemicals can be introduced through the integrated dosing port on the pedestal.
